Material selection is only one part of a waterproof enclosure’s effectiveness. Design details such as gasket quality, cable gland compatibility, and manufacturing precision also influence how well a box keeps out water and dust. For example:
Sealing elements such as silicone or EPDM gaskets support the material by forming tight barriers at potential entry points.
UV stabilization additives in plastic materials help them resist sunlight-induced degradation.
Surface finishes on metal boxes protect against oxidation and environmental wear.
